What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle technique used to release tightness and tension in the soft tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
We evaluate the movement and pulsation of the cerebrospinal fluid and fascia that surround our entire nervous system. CST uses a series of gentle techniques to remove blocks and restore this subtle movement, or pulse, in the central nervous system. CST is incredibly safe and gentle! We use just the weight of a nickel to apply pressure to the cranial bones and release deep-seated tension.
Ultra-Gentle Pediatric Care
Key Benefits & Goals of CST
-
Reduces Nervous System Tension: Relieves strain on the brain stem and spinal dura.
-
Supports CSF Circulation: Optimizes cerebrospinal fluid flow to deliver nutrients and clear metabolic waste.
-
Accelerates Recovery: Enhances the body’s innate capacity for self-healing.
-
Post-Birth Cranial Alignment: Gently guides cranial bones back to neutral, helping prevent flat spots (plagiocephaly).
How the Craniosacral System Works
The craniosacral system is intimately connected with the musculoskeletal system through the vascular system, as well as the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Trauma anywhere in the body—from birth compression to everyday falls—may restrict normal movement and inhibit the pulse of cerebrospinal fluid. By releasing fascial restrictions, CST helps the autonomic nervous system return to a calm, restorative state.

Conditions CST Helps in Children & Infants
Birth can be physically demanding on a newborn's cranial bones and neck. CST helps the young nervous system adapt smoothly to life outside the womb:
